Photocatalyst Paint, "ecoatio2"

Photocatalyst Paint, "ecoatio2" is a functional paint which integrated the organic resolution process and inorganic coating technology from photocatalysts and takes titanium oxide, a kind of photocatalyst, as its main component.
In general, when you use photocatalyst film that uses organic resin, such as acrylic, epoxy and polyurethane as its binder outdoors, the resolution of resin results in the "choking phenomenon(*)." Also, a problem occurs even when a binder of an inorganic type is used, because the resin covers up the photocatalyst particles and declines the activity of the surface catalysts. As a solution, we developed "ecoatio2" which fused together inorganic multi-hole binders and photocatalysts.
ecoatio2 is mainly applied on road construction materials, such as guardrails and aluminum interception walls. Please use the air drying type for construction sites, and the Forced baking type for newly constructed areas.

(*)"Choking Phenomenon" : Occurs when the resin in the coating film resolves and the pigments appear on the surface.

 The Mechanism of Photocatalysts

Photocatalysts become active by ultraviolet energy that are in lights, such as sunlight and fluorescent light and can resolve all kinds of organic matters with its powerful oxidizing abilities.

When the titanium oxide of a photocatalyst is hit by ultraviolet rays that are below 400 anometers, electrons (e-) and positive holes (h+) appear. The electrons and positive holes come together with the moisture and oxygen in the air, and transform into superoxide ion (O2-) and a type of active oxygen called hydroxy radical (.OH) . These active oxygen types all have strong oxygen power and therefore can cleanse the atmosphere (NOx) , antibacterialize, and resolve dirt.

 The Mechanism of Photocatalysts

When titanium oxide photocatalysts are exposed to ultraviolet rays, O2- (Superoxide ion) and .OH (Hydroxy Radial) appear. Due to their powerful oxygen power, it is possible to cleanse the atmosphere (eliminate NOx) and resolve dirt.
